Scrum Poker Online started in 2018 as a side project. We — Kai and Paul — were working in an agile team at Swiss Re, with colleagues spread across the globe, and had already built an internal app together (me@swissre). For our refinement meetings we kept looking for a story-point estimation tool that didn't get in the way.
Most tools we tried required accounts, setup, and a learning curve — for a process that takes ten seconds to explain. Our bar was simple: open a room and start estimating in less than 30 seconds. No tool met it, so we built one.
It was our first product of our own, and it proved that two people can run a web product end to end. That success spurred us on to try the same approach on a bigger problem — the result is Whocan, a free tool for group scheduling, invitations, and RSVPs. In 2025, Scrum Poker Online counted 1.05 million users and 6.2 million sessions (Google Analytics).
Scrumpoker still does one thing: estimating. There's no native Jira integration, no backlog management, no enterprise reporting. If your team needs those, another tool will serve you better. If you want to open a room and start voting, you're in the right place.
